Day 8

We offer you the opportunity to hike to the highest peak in Prievidza district, which is the natural frontier between Trenčín and Žilina Regions. The name of the peak is Kľak (1351.6 a.s.l.).
If you are too tired to drive, you can travel by bus to where the trail begins (buses leave daily from the Prievidza Bus Station at 8.00 and 9.20 AM, direction Žilina). The bus takes you to Fačkovské Sedlo, from where you follow the trail markers.

Trail:

• Fačkovské Sedlo (802 m) - Staré Cesty (Old Trails) - ascent: 15 min., descent: 10 min.
• Staré Cesty - Reváň (Reváňske Sedlo 1,184 m) – ascent: 1 hr. 15 min., descent: 50 min.
• Reváň - Kľak (1,351.6 m) ascent: 1 hr. 45 min., descent: 1 hr 15 min.

After you finish your hike, you can have lunch at the Salaš pod Kľakom, where traditional Slovak specialties are served.
Buses leave daily from Fačkovské sedlo for Prievidza at 2.53, 3.25 and 4.56 PM.
Don’t forget while coming to or returning from Kľak to take a look at the source of the Nitra River (above the Reváň recreational center), from which our region – Upper Nitra – gets its name.
