CITY SEAL
This is used to seal significant letters and documents in cases where the Mayor or City Council has made a decision. The seal is round and shows the angel that appears in the city's coat-of-arms. The picture is complemented by the towers of the church belonging to the Holy Order of the Piarists and St. Bartholomew's Church. Under the angel is printed "Prievidza AD 1383".
For purposes of impressing the seal, the city had a stamp made in 1992 for putting an impression of the seal on wax. The stamp shows the kneeling angel with a cross in both hands and the words "SIGILLUM CIVITATIS PRIVIDIAE 1383" (Seal of the City of Prievidza 1383) on the edge of the stamp. Documents are seldom impressed, however, with this stamp.
