Giant Chessboards on Námestie slobody

In the interests of livening up the central business district during the summer months, the City Council approved a remarkable project. Five giant chessboards were laid out directly on the main square pavement, along with original wooden chess figures. City residents and others may play at no charge – it is enough to take the chess pieces out of the sheds where they are stored and which are also located in the central district, having your identification card or other proof of identification ready. Besides members of the general public, the figurines are also used by members of the Prievidza chess club, who arrange simultaneous chess tournaments here.
